Rakoski, Matyas
(1892-1971)
   Hungarian politician. Born in Ada, he went to Budapest where he worked as a bank clerk. He was active in the socialist movement, and later arrested. Released from prison in 1940 he went to Moscow where he organized the Hungarian communist propaganda campaign. After the Soviet occupation of Hungary, he reorganized the workers' party. He was deputy head of a coalition government and subsequently served as prime minister of Hungary.
